How to use sub-IDs
A sub-ID is a short label that you add to a tracking link. It travels with every click and appears in your reports, so you can see which page, email or video brings results.
Why sub-IDs help
Without sub-IDs, all clicks from one offer look the same. With them, you can compare two articles, two newsletters or two ad groups, and put more effort into what works.
Add a sub-ID to a link
Open Get link for the offer.
Type a label in the sub-ID field, for example review-page or newsletter-march.
Copy the link and use it only in the place that the label describes.
Make a new link for each placement. One link and one sub-ID for each page, email or video keeps your data clean.
Naming tips
Keep it short, with letters, numbers and hyphens only.
Use one idea for each sub-ID: the page, the channel or the campaign.
Use the same pattern every time, for example channel-topic-month. It makes reports easy to read months later.
What not to put in a sub-ID
Never put personal data in a sub-ID, such as names, email addresses, phone numbers or IP addresses. Do not try to find out who is behind a click or a conversion. Our Program Policies do not allow this.
See the results
Open Reports, choose a date range and look at clicks and conversions for each sub-ID. If one label gets many clicks and no conversions, check the page, the offer match and the placement.
